The recreation teams play right here in Manalapan. The travel teams play in the Monmouth Ocean Soccer Assocation (MOSA), Jersey Coast, MAPS, Match Fit, and the Central Jersey Leagues. ·  Do you offer a 3 or 4 year old soccer program?

·  Why don't all the coaches write in the Goalkeeper newsletter? I think you should strongly encourage it because the children like to read about themselves or their team.

If the coach does not have the time then maybe a team parent can do it for the team. We have had this in the past. That would be their job to submit the game report evey week. I'm sure the coach would be greatful and the players would appreciate and enjoy seeing their names. Talk to your coach and ask how and to whom to send in into . We need volunteers like you to help make this program all it can be.

·  What size soccer balls do the players use?

U5 and U6 use a size 3 ball, U7- through U13 use a size 4 ball, and then you change to a size 5 ball.

·  I am a coach in the U5 division. Are there trophies for the kids for first, second and third places, and when do we get them? Is it possible to keep the same team together for the next season?

All recreation players receive participation awards. From U5 - U10 no scroes are kept since the emphasis is on development, not winning.

Teams are not kept together for the following seasons. Some players leave the system, new players come in, coaches change, and some players move up to the next age group based on their birthday. Accordingly, after each season the coaches rate their players and the information is entered into a computer so when the teams are created the next season the scoring ensures that the new teams are as even as possible.

Feel free to attend the General Membership meeting of the MSC which is held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Yorktown Social Club on Rt. 527. There you can speak to them in person and get all the club information.

·  When do the teams practice?

Soccer practices are held in two ways: We have UK Elite player development, which generally takes place on Saturdays, and at their discretion coaches hold their own practices after school during the week. How often these discretionary practices are held depends on the age of the children - generally U5 and 6 have only occasional practices, U7, 8 and 9 generally have it weekly, and U10 and up have it 2x a week.

·  Regarding the Tournament Teams, before I decide whether or not my child will try out, can you please advise me on the practice and game schedules if he were to make the team.

The Tournament Teams are for rec players only, and are in addition to the regularly scheduled games. The teams play in 3-4 tournaments, including the Manalapan Funfest. Given the short time frame for training, practice is usually 1-2 times a week.

·  Can an out of town resident (Marlboro) tryout for the U-8 travel team?

Non-Manalapan residents can try out for the U8 MSC travel teams only if they have played in our rec program for the last year. Out of towners are allowed to try out for U9 and older teams even if they previously weren't a part of the Manalapan Soccer Club.
